South Africa - Humana

The best investment we can make for the future depends on how we care for our children today. As critical as education is to a child’s development, it means nothing if children are hungry. Children who do not face dietary challenges tend to perform better in school; which has an impact on their future and the future of the communities where they live.

Before COVID-19 became a pandemic, food security was an existing issue in various regions of the world. Such is the case in Doornkop, a small town west of Soweto, in South Africa. Prior to the pandemic, Humana People to People Child Aid donated meals to orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC). However, their mission to provide meals to OVC has been negatively impacted by the pandemic as the government has decreased funding to Humana, making it impossible for the organization to feed roughly 600 children per month in need of nutrition.

Dema Dimbaya initiated a project to assist Humana in their mission to provide meals for OVC. The assistance is to be in the form of food and food products, along with materials and structures to cultivate, store, prepare and distribute the food.

The project commenced in January 2022. We are asking you to consider making a financial donation to assist in providing meals and nourishment to children who are orphaned and vulnerable.  A donation of $15 USD will cover one child. A donation can be made using the PayPal link below on the DemaDimbaya.org website.
